TVXQ Voted as Top Male Idol Group of 2009 [311209]

January 1, 2010

*The article is about Lee Jun Ki being voted as top Hallyu Star of 2009, skip the parts if you’re not interested.*

Korean actor Lee Jun-ki has been voted top Hallyu Star of the year in a survey conducted by a Korean business news publication, according to a press release by his agency Mentor Entertainment on Thursday.

In a recent poll titled “2009 My Vote for Top 6 Stars of the Year”, Finance and Economy News asked viewers who they thought were this year’s top six entertainers in the following categories; Male idol group, Female group, Solo singer, Male actor, Female actress, Hallyu Star, Drama and Film. Each respondent was allowed to vote for one star in each category.

Results for the survey — conducted from December 21 thru 29 — were based on the votes cast by netizens as well as the site’s Internet statistics, such as the number of times each star’s news articles were read.

Amongst nominees in the Hallyu Star category including actors Bae Yong-joon, Gang Dong-won, Kwon Sang-woo, Lee Jun-ki, So Ji-sub and Song Seung-hun, Lee raked in 40 percent of the total 26,078 votes to be selected as the No. 1 Hallyu Star of 2009.

“I feel more happy and touched [by the news], perhaps because this is the last day of the year,” the actor was quoted as saying. “I think it carries a bigger significance because netizens directly voted for me as this year’s top Hallyu star. This year was very meaningful because I got to meet my Asian fans in Japan, China and Taiwan.”

Lee, 27, became a household name after appearing as a woman-like clown in the 2005 film “The King and the Clown”. He currently stars in MBC TV series “Hero”, where he plays a passionate magazine reporter, and won the People’s Choice Popularity award yesterday at MBC Acting Awards.

Winners in other categories of the survey were:
Male idol group : TVXQ (received 56.6 percent of votes)
▲ Female group : Girls’ Generation (41.1 percent)
▲ Solo singer : Rain (31.1 percent)
▲ Male actor : Yoo Seung-ho (34.5 percent)
▲ Female actress : Han Hyo-joo (52.4 percent)
▲ Drama : “Shining Inheritance” (33.3 percent)
▲ Film : “Take Off” (29 percent)

TVXQ disbanding is false [311209]

January 1, 2010

Only moments ago we reported on male sensation TVXQ and their plans for disbanding in the new year. The source was from a Japanese article and SM Entertainment has yet to release a full legitimate statement, but things didn’t look so good when Japan reported some unfortunate news.

A reporter said that tension within the group has become so high and bad that it’s reached its limit, saying that Jaejoong, Yoochun, and Junsu showed more passion to perform than the other two as they seem to have lost the will to go on. Even worse, the reporter stated that, “Currently the three have begun their activities with a new agency and the remaining SM members are forbidden from contacting the other three.

Plans for TVXQ was to apparently begin promotions for their last single BREAK OUT! on the 27th of January, and to release their last album on February 17th with one final goodbye concert in June.

However, SM Entertainment did not give a long detailed official statement but quickly replied to the situation by saying, “The reporter’s statements are false. There are no plans of disbanding.” But another source stated that, “Nothing has yet been officially decided.

There’s much confusion going around and no doubt it’s got fans very anxious. But could this be another foreign misinterpretation?

PHEW! Its just a rumour.

TVXQ members show kindness [311209]

January 1, 2010

Back in July  leader Yunho of TVXQ / DBSK / Tohoshinki gave back by donating his time and volunteering at an orphanage in Nam-gu, Gwangju City. He served food and also cleaned the building.

Earlier in the month  Xiah Junsu along with his fan club donated money to a poor village in Cambodia. The village was so thankful for the donation that they even named the village after him.

On December 31st, these two acts of kindness were shown on display on the documentary show Star The Secret.

Yunho gets about 3 days of vacation in a whole year and he mainly spends the few days off doing volunteer work at an orphanage. Yunho first debuted with TVXQ when he was 17 and even before that he a back-up dancer for Dana (CSJH theGrace). Even with his busy schedule, he never missed a day of school. Also he sometimes had to dye his hair for performances, but on the days he had to go to school, he would always go to a hair salon and make it black again. The person in charge of the orphanage said that Yunho is a big help to the kids. In the video you can see him dancing and playing with them.

They interview many people that live in the Xiah Junsu Village and they express that they’re all very thankful to him. They say that he was the one that helped them fix their houses. One of them stated, “My heart had pain because of the falling roofs and for the kids who would get hit by the rain when it leaked through the roof. Now that everything’s fixed, I’m really happy.”

Has TVXQ been officially disbanded? [311209]

January 1, 2010

According to Yahoo! Japan, as of December 31, 2009, TVXQ has finally disbanded. What a crappy way to end the year, hmm?

Though fans have been doubting this news or staying in denial, Japanese reports have stated that these boys are absolutely finished. No longer are the days when the boys traveled together, have any sort of interaction, or even react with one another back stage! Since the break of the news about trouble in paradise for the boys, there has been little to no interaction among them at all. Apparently, BREAK OUT will be their final single to be released and the boys will be releasing their BEST album in February. Finally, a final goodbye concert is to be held sometime in June.

However, fans that still want to keep their faith alive, there has been no official news released by the boys or SM Entertainment.

TVXQ, top earnings in Korea for 2009 [311209]

December 31, 2009

Despite the turmoil that TVXQ / DBSK / Tohoshinki is going through, the boys are still bringing in the big bucks. On December 30th, tvN ENEWS ‘블랙박스 / Blackbox’ ranked the top 10 entertainers in terms of revenue earned and the boys of TVXQ came out on top. The top 10 ranked as the following:

2) Rain / Bi
3) Big Bang
4) Super Junior
5) Kim Hyun Joong
6) Ko Hyun Jung
7) SNSD / Girls’ Generation
8 ) Lee Byung Hun
9) Yoo Jae Suk
10) Kang Ho Dong

TVXQ’s revenue for 2009 was estimated at ₩ 127,340,000,000 (around $109.1 million US dollars). ₩ 91,200,000,000 came from album sales, ₩ 35,940,000,000 came from concerts, and around ₩ 2,000,000,000 came from advertisements to come up with the total revenue. This coinciding with the news that TVXQ was the #3 earner in Japan is great news for the boys.

Looking at all the money they generated it seems there should be plenty of money to go around, unfortunately there’s big turmoil with SM Entertainment. Hopefully, it can all resolved soon.

TVXQ performs at Kohaku [311209]

December 31, 2009

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE! XD [But the date its still 311209 o_o whats wrong?]

Last year at this time, the boys of TVXQ / DBSK / Tohoshinki were bestowed the honor of performing on NHK’s prestigious Kohaku. For those that don’t know what Kohaku is and how it’s such a big deal, here’s an excerpt from wikipedia which explains it pretty well:

“Kohaku Uta Gassen more commonly known as simply Kohaku, is an annual music show on the New Year’s Eve produced by Japanese public broadcaster NHK and broadcast on both television and radio, nationally and internationally by NHK’s networks and some overseas (mainly cable) broadcasters which bought the program… Literally “Red and White Song Battle,” the program divides the most popular music artists of the year into competing teams of red and white. The “red” team or akagumi is composed of all female artists (or groups with female vocals), while the “white” team or shirogumi is all male (or groups with male vocals). The honor of performing on Kohaku is strictly by invitation, so only the most successful J-POP artists and enka singers can perform. Even today, a performance on Kohaku is said to be a big highlight in a singer’s career because of the show’s large reach.”

Last month DBSK / TVXQ / Tohoshinki were invited once again and earlier today they sang their hit single Stand By U. Despite what they’re going through they put on an excellent performance
