Lee Yo Won – “Yoochun Surprised Me With His Great Acting” [221010]

October 23, 2010

Lee Yo Won recently expressed her praise for Park Yoochun who acts as Lee Seon Joon in “SungKyunKwan Scandal”. At the press conference, she said, “watching it (the drama), Park Yoochun gave me a huge surprise”, praising his great acting abilities and how his hair and style really match him.

Lee Yo Won came to know of “SungKyunKwan Scandal” through friends. Since Yeon Hee in the drama has so many similar points as Queen Seondeok, it mentioned to Yo Won, hence creating an interest for her.

On the other hand, two members of the SungKyunKwan Quartet, Park Yoochun and Park Min Young’s respective management companies have denied the recent rumor of the two being in a relationship.

CEO Matsuura-sans’ Cryptic Tweets

October 15, 2010

Then I wonder what’s up with the government. RT @nejimi The music industry is so ugly. RT @misakikyaro It’s getting riled up… RT @masatomatsuura: http://tl.gd/6f6rl0

There are times when I want to say these things. (After being told by other Japanese people on Twitter that it’s not the best idea to reply to angry fans)

I just thought it was necessary to tell these typical people that only post meaningless tweets to stand out.

To people overacting about my last tweets. They’re from September 28th. Below↓. If you’re one of the people that assumed these tweets were relevant to you, it shows that you are either overreacting or being paranoid. Most of the time, I am not talking about anything relevant to you.

Lost sadness, and with that, lost the fun.

To lose is to win… No, even if it’s like this now, someday, I will turn it back. Right now is a time to work hard to stifle this regret, it’s training. I’ll make those people acting high and mighty regret what has happened. In the end “I’ll never lose.” I’m just talking to myself…

I used to think that giving up is to lose. But if you’ve decided completely that you’re giving up, maybe there’s a way for losing to be a victory, too.

T/N: This is my interpretation of his tweets, which are somewhat hard to decipher because he’s writes vaguely on purpose. I didn’t do it word for word like some other translators did, but I tried to match the general tone of what he said. Please read other translations and decide for yourself what he meant.

[FanAcct] JYJ Showcase in Seoul {Fan Account 1} [121010]

October 12, 2010

This is quite a short one ^^; I’m working on the longer ones, so stay tuned!
Hello everyone, please excuse the lack of coherence in this account. I’m still greatly deprived of oxygen and my waist is close to snapping. Please understand T.T
During the showcase, they placed a video showing footage from when they were recording their new album in the US. Then there were a few words from the producers who were involved.
After the interview, the three introduced themselves. It seemed as though there were a lot of Yoochun fans where I was standing… probably because of SungKyunKwan Scandal. When he came out, the screaming was especially loud. Of course, it was equally deafening for the 2 other members!
The three alternated in answering questions (I’m still in a bit of a daze right now, so I don’t really remember what the questions were). Basically, the interview revolved around how they felt being on stage again after so long, what they thought of the new album and their gratitude towards the fans. They also said a little about the more difficult periods when they didn’t have any schedules and such.
The effect of SungKyunKwan really cannot be underestimated. Whenever Yoochun spoke, people would scream ‘LEE SUN JOON’ and then he’d say ‘Should I perhaps change my name?’
Jaejoong was as adorable as ever. He suddenly stood up and walked to the B zone. People wondered what he was looking at only to find out later on that he’d gotten up to get himself a bottle of water…
I think Yoochun was asked about the differences between recording in Korea and in the US. He said a single word… I think it was ‘instrument’… and the fans completely lost control. Everyone went ‘ohhhhh’~~ We were all so proud of Yoochun’s english!
Yoochun also said that Junsu’s english has really improved, and when the fans demanded Junsu to speak english, he mumbled ‘hello’ uncomfortably but it was so cute! There was a short episode in between where the MC asked a question and the whole crowd began to scream ‘don’t cry’. Junsu rubbed at his eyes a little and then the MC asked if he was really crying, but he said ‘nope’.
I don’t remember the exact order, but there was another video later on… I think it was something related to their dreams and pursuits. Since a portion of the money made at these showcases will be donated to charity, they felt like they were doing a good deed in helping more children fulfill their dreams.
Jaejoong told the audience they were going to sing a Korean song – the SungKyunKwan Scandal OST ‘Chajatta’. Everyone in the audience sang along with them, especially during the high parts! We all did very well! Then they performed 2 new songs~
As a whole, the showcase was definitely a success. The fans were extremely supportive and the trio gave us their best as usual. And of course, there was the red ocean! The new songs are all absolutely amazing, so please go and buy the new album! I hope that the upcoming showcases will be just as successful and that you’ll all give them your support!
Always keep the faith!

Levay’s letter to Junsu and Junsu’s reply from the official photobook

October 12, 2010

Dear Jun Soo,

When we met on the opening night of “Mozart!” in Seoul, in Sejong theater end of January of this Year, you said to me that you liked my music, and asked me if I would be willing to write you a Song. I remember telling you immediately “yes”.
Since that day I was frequesntly thinking about that song, because you have made a great impression on me: you are incredibly telented, determined artist, and at the same time a very modest and humble person. Up until now, I haven’t encountered many artists like you.
To write the Song for you, that I promised, I had to wait for the right moment. After the idea for your Concerts in the Olympic hall of Seoul was born, I knew this is the right time! Then I started to think about a concept and the character of the song that I should write for you.
One day in Vienna I was playing on my Grand Piano, and the basic theme was born. But I knew immediately, that I don’t want to just make a song out of this idea, that is not enough, it has to be more than that.

So after working several weeks on this basic version, I decided to musically paint a picture; to compose a story with this song. My imagination was, that there is a narration in the beginning, where I play the piano solo, and then the part of your singing is an emotional story; with a dramatic part which builds up, and then it resolves hope redemption.
Now that, for sure, wasn’t easy. At least I didn’t expect it to be so demanding. I was composing every day, and I also spent many sleepless nights over it. The musical images started to develop, but sometimes in a way that I haven’t experienced very often. One day everything was right, by the next day I had to start all over again. Day after day.
So I ended up with about eight versions of the song. Sometimes it was frustrating, yet I felt that I was moving bit by bit in the right direction. I knew I have to be patient, very patient.
The most important thing was for me, that I would have be able to imagine you singing this song on the stage in your concerts.
This was the most important thing to me, because I was writing this song not only for you, dear jun Soo, but for your faithful audience as well.
I truly hope that you will like the song, because than I am sure that your audience will like it too.
Looking forward to our concerts in Seoul, and to the world premiere of the song I’ve wrote for you.

With my best regards
Sincerely yours
Sylvester Levay
Neuhausen, September 6th 2010

Dear Levay,

We started rehearsal for Mozart! and Elisabeth last week.
And today I received the score for the new song for the first time
After finish rehearsing the new song for the first time
I read the letter that you sent
I am writing this letter to you to show you how deeply thankful I am.
To provide such a grand and beautiful song for a person like me…
For me to be given a chance to sing this song..
It is a great honor.
I was deeply moved, when I heard that you spent day and night working on this song.
It is my turn now to spend day and night practising this song.
When I first heard this song,
I was thinking exactly what you were thinking
I was imagining singing this song with you on stage
The beginning is grand and at the same time, I felt that there was a message in the ending of the music.
The first time we met, the situation I am in now and for the fans that have been waiting so long…
This is a song that can make up for everything, like ran after the drought.
I can’t wait for the day we meet and introduce this song to the fans.
I thank you again.
Now I am off back to practice again!!
I will try my best to not disappoint you.

[Support] Let’s put Europe on the map!!

September 30, 2010

As a resident of Europe…I 100% support!! Hear us too! ;)

“Let’s put Europe on the map!”
As the JYJ “World-album” tour dates and places have been revealed, we as Europeans are, yet again, left out from these. Therefore we are asking you for your help!
We have created this small mail that we want all the fans to send to the organization that takes care of the tour places.
You are allowed to mail as European AND non-European, but if not European, please write “Supporting the European fanbase” instead of your country.
Do not change the continent of the mail and title it “Concerning: European Tourdates”

Forward your mail to mel@tinsel-pr.com & if this address does not work, please refer to the JYJ site & mail all other addresses
—-
“Dear Madam, Dear Sir,

I am writing to you concerning the released tour dates for JYJ’s worldwide album « The Beginning ».
It has come to my attention, that even though this is a so-called “worldwide” album, not a single European city appears on the tour schedule.
Seeing as the band holds the record for the biggest fanclub in the world, the size of their European fanbase should not be underestimated.

All of us (European fans) have been eagerly awaiting such an opportunity as this “worldwide album release” presents, thus we would like to request of you to please consider adding at least 1 European city to the schedule. Knowing the fervor of both JYJ and TVXQ fans, nothing would stop us from traveling across the continent to attend that one special stage we’ve all been waiting for, may it be in Brussels, Paris, Berlin, London, or any other major city. I can assure you that a showcase in one of those cities would be an immense success, for both the band and the fans.

I would like to thank you sincerely for taking the time to read and consider my thoughts on the matter.

With all due regards,

NAME, AGE, COUNTRY“

Thank you for taking time to send this mail and let’s work together to put Europe on the map!

[Trans] Keeping the Faith

September 19, 2010

No matter how brutal reality may be, we will not run from it.

Habits are frightening. When something becomes a habit, you take it for granted, and then there comes arrogance and prejudice. Once you grow used to seeing celebrities flashing their dazzling smiles at the camera, you’ll scorn at any display of annoyance or irritation; once you grow used to seeing these people as your role models, you’ll refuse to accept any inapt behaviour. Once you’ve grown used to all of these things, reality becomes difficult to bear.

Scandal is scandal, it has no relation to truth whatsoever.

The one thing you cannot control in this world is the voice of the public. It may not be the voice of authority or the true voice of the majority. It is nothing more than a voice who claims to represent the majority.

Scandals are scandalous because we make them that way. We see what we want to see and say what we want to say. The only place in this world where the ‘truth’ hold holds value is in the courts of justice. This is the kind of world we live in, ‘truth’ is a tool we use to achieve the things we want, and we’ll toss it aside as soon as we’re done.
It’s true that what doesn’t break you makes you stronger.
It would be a shame if anticipation became demand.
You look up to and idolize those boys because they’re everything you’re not.
You want them to be perfect, and that is exactly what they become to you.
You want to be proud of them so that you can take pride in being a fan.
You feel like their pride is no different from yours, and so you want them to do their very best in everything.
And because you want them to do their very best, doing their best becomes an obligation that you demand them to fulfill.

Eventually being a ‘fan’ distorts into something else altogether.

It’s the same as how the elderly take it for granted that people should offer their seats to them. It’s an obligation, not a virtue.

When you play with children, it is your responsibility to feign defeat or to deal with their crying. It seems as though accepting defeat is not a trait of our nature. The root of this resentment is our tendency to compare. Everybody likes to compare. Comparison isn’t such a bad thing, it’s a means of putting your strengths and weaknesses into perspective. But when comparing morphs into competition, you’ll be met with your destruction.

People who are unwilling to reveal their weaknesses and vulnerability seldom receive any sympathy.
Just because someone doesn’t wallow in self-pity doesn’t mean that they’re any more fortunate or any less deserving of sympathy.
If you see someone fall or faint in the middle of a road, you’ll walk over and help them up. But how about the people who pretend to have it easy? How about the people who silently overcome obstacle after obstacle, all the way until the end? How about the people who refuse to collapse until after they’ve completed their duty and have moved out of sight?

It all looks so easy when you’re not the one living it.

We support because we approve and we approve because of the expectations we had to start with. People who work to satisfy expectations naturally receive support.
Purity, cuteness and sexiness, these are things that we like and approve of.
But what about them? The pressure of a comeback leave them with no choice.

When they don’t approve of something, they’ll just tell you ‘I don’t know’ because that’s really all there is to say. Nothing less, nothing more.
If people demand an apology, well then that’s what they’ll get.

Sometimes simple gestures speak louder than the songs that they stay up at night to work on. But does that mean that they should give up writing songs and be satisfied with winning people over through mere fan service?

If they fall over and tell us they’re okay, we’ll forget about it and move on.
If they’re struggling to get to sleep but choose to stay up and compose anyway, we’ll think nothing of it and move on.
If they tell us they’re okay, then there’s no longer a need to fight and defend them. People move on.

This is the kind of world we live in: children who cry get the attention they want.

Do they really have to have a motive behind everything they do?
When rumours of them being violent to their fans circulate, when they wear a few layers less of clothing, people jump to the conclusion that they do it to boost their popularity. Does it always have to come to that?

What is Dong Bang Shin Ki?
The love of our lives, the money making tool of large corporations, the dirt in the eyes of antis…
But to our boys, they are nothing more than artistes
It doesn’t matter what other people think because they are living their dream
The Dong Bang Shin Ki we see on stage is who they really are
They’re not smiling to please anyone, they are genuinely happy.

There’s no way we’ll ever live the same glamorous lives,
and there’s no way we’ll ever understand the hardships they’ve endured.
They are the stars in the sky, so far beyond our reach, and we’re nothing more than fans who look up to them.
But this is the path they chose and they’ll keeping pushing forward through the storm
So many things are beyond our control,
but the one thing we can do is to stand by their side and to always keep the faith.
