[2010 best 5] Hottest historical dramas: First half of the year Slave Hunter、Second half of the year Sungkyunkwan Scandal

Out of all historical dramas broadcasted, which one left the deepest impression for college students?

Recently Joint Korean Film Association (UVA, including Dankook University, Sungkyunkwan University, Ewha University and 18 other colleges or universities) surveyed 660 college students. KBS 2TV Slave Hunter places 1st for historical dramas broadcasted this year with 34%, 2nd place is Sungkyunkwan Scandal with 20%, in 3rd place is MBC Dongyi with 18%.

Sungkyunkwan Scandal sold 3.3 billion in just Japan for copyright, creating the highest record for the year.
It is believed the main reason is because this is the first work of TVXQ born JYJ’s Micky Yoochun.

JYJ likely to perform at 2010 KBS Drama Awards [081210]

Korean boy band JYJ, composed of former TVXQ members Jaejung, Yuchun and Junsu, will likely take the stage at the 2010 KBS Drama Awards, making it the first time they will perform on television since debuting as a trio.

“It’s not 100% confirmed as of yet but we in currently in talks with JYJ for a congratulatory performance during the 2010 KBS Drama Awards,” a high-ranking official from KBS said. “It would be great if they performed the song ‘Calling You’ from the drama ‘SungKyunKwan Scandal’ since Yuchun gave such a memorable performance in the drama.”

He went onto explain that they are fine-tuning on several details including how many songs JYJ will sing at the awards ceremony.

Jaejung, Yuchun and Junsu made their debut in 2004 as part of the popular boy band TVXQ, but despite their phenomenal success in Asia, they ceased their activities as a group after being involved in a legal dispute with the Korean agency SM Entertainment.They made a comeback to the music scene in October as a trio under the name JYJ and released their worldwide studio album “The Beginning” on October 14, kicking off their global showcase to promote their album and themselves in Seoul and the United States.

JYJ recently held two series of show titled the “JYJ Worldwide Concert in Seoul” at the Main Olympic Stadium in Jamsil last month.

For two months from late August, Yuchun had starred in KBS’ 20-episode series “SungKyunKwan Scandal” alongside cast members Park Min-young, Song Joong-ki and Yoo A-in. The show fared moderately well, posting ratings in the mid-ten percent range toward the end of its run.

Jaejoong: For me, should I say it’s somewhat similar to when we debuted in Japan? We’re introducing our own music through new words, to a new world, so I’m feeling really nervous.

Junsu: Although I’m really nervous about our American debut, but I’m even more nervous over speaking Japanese (for the first time) in such a long time.

Announcer: But your Japanese is really good… Your (debut) album… Although I think it must be great, how do you feel about the album?

Yoochun: My first thought was that I must work hard for this.

Jaejoong: I want to know as soon as possible what everyone feels as they listen to our songs.

Yoochun: Recently for me… it’s really painful but, I’ve been craving Japan’s tonkatsu ramen. (Jaesu laugh) It’s really painful…

Announcer: Meeting these three in New York and talking to them.. never did it occur to me that the topic would move on to tonkatsu ramen.

SungKyunKwan Scandal Releases Poster Of Jalgeum Quartet Vs Jjilgeum Quartet

KBS Monday-Tuesday drama <SungKyunKwan Scandal> is drawing attention for its new poster of Park Yoochun, Park Min Young, Song Joong Ki, and Yu Ah In of the ‘Jalgeum Quartet’ (Jalgeum: Word from the novel describing a man so handsome that women’s hearts stop even when all he does is walk past them) as well as their scary(?) SungKyunKwan seniors Jun Taesu, Kang Sung Pil, Kim Dong Yoon and Chae Byung Chan of the ‘Jjilgeum Quartet’.

Jun Taesu, who plays the role of head of Jjilgeum and student body president Ha In Soo, stated, “The biggest charm that separates the Jjilgeums from the Jalgeum quartet is “laughter”. I believe their charm comes from being bad guys who aren’t hated but give the viewers something to laugh about.”

Kang Sung Pil, who plays Lim Byung Choon, also added that, “The charm of the Jjilgeum quartet is their humanity. The Jalgeum quartet, with their good looks and intelligence, may be people to look up to but they can also be people others feel jealous towards. Viewers may feel closer to the Jjilgeum quartet because they’re the kind of characters you could bump into in your neighborhood and comfortably strike up a conversation with.”

YTree Media representative Noh Yoon Ae stated, “Though they are divided by the names Jalgeum and Jjilgeum, they are all characters who can represent the healthy and bright energy of youth at the SungKyunKwan campus. 3 TVXQ Members Group Comeback (3 Members OST Title: 찾았다 ‘Chajatta’ – Found) [300810]

The three members Micky Yoochun, Xiah Junsu, and Youngwoong Jaejoong (alphabetical order) will meet fans in 3 colors of song.

At the first broadcast today on August 30th, one insertion soundtrack of KBS 2TV mini series ‘SungKyunKwan Scandal’ entitled ‘Chajatta (Found)’ is agreed to release.

One official said, “Xiah Junsu and Hero Jaejoong already have their own solo. While the three members will have their first song together entitled ‘Chajatta (Found)’ that is going to be released as well. Participating in OST of drama where Micky Yoochun has his acting debut left this work to have even deeper meaning to them.”

Meanwhile sports hankooki reported that Xiah Junsu and Hero Jaejoong are each participating in one song. Yet about which song of the two people to be used as Micky Yoochun’s theme has not yet been decided.

Therefore seems that in ‘SungKyunKwan Scandal’ OST there will be 3 songs that are sung by 3 members of TVXQ.

Fans have given their attention particularly to the song where three members will sing together ‘Chajatta (Found)’. This three members’ soundtrack song is said to be a love song about finally found someone to love for a lifetime. A song with easy listening melody and beautiful harmonization at which the three members are known to be impressive at.

For their Korean fans who’ve been in thirst for their musical work after a long time, this would be a great gift to them.

Xiah Junsu Musical Concert To Be Held [300810]

A Revival of the Glory of Mozart?

Xiah Junsu will hold the ‘Kim Jun Soo Musical Concert’ at the Olympic Sports Stadium for four days, starting from October 7th.

With a special request from Grammy Award winning, world renowned composer Sylvester Levay, the concert has been planned with Kim Junsu as the main character to show the highlights of ‘Mozart!’ as well as the Austrian musical ‘Elizabeth’, which will debut in Korea in 2012.

Composer Levay will fly in to Korea in September for the concert and will bring with him a song composed especially for Xiah Junsu to perform at this concert.

Levay is planning to join Kim Junsu on stage for this piece and it was found that Levay holds great affection for the singer as he even found and watched all of Kim Junsu’s past performances as part of the group TVXQ.

Kim Junsu, who is preparing for his first musical concert, stated, “I was able to play a special role in Mozart, and found myself falling for the charm of the new genre of music I encountered,” and “We will be introducing Composer Levay’s famous production ‘Elizabeth’ for the first time in Korea along with highlights of the musical ‘Mozart!’ I hope that this will be a special time for the fans of the musical to experience a new side of the musical.”

Representative Um Hong Hyun of EMK Musical Company showed great confidence in the concert and stated, “The staff will be comprised of skilled people from Europe, Japan and Korea in order to create a memorable stage for the concert,” and “Kim Junsu will present himself as an artiste like never before to his fans and is working hard to produce a concert that will move the audience with music alone. Please anticipate it.”

Kim Junsu, who played the lead role of ‘Wolfang Mozart’ in January, broke the controversy regarding idols performing in musicals without verification of their capabilities.

He completed his successful debut in the musical industry by receiving the ‘Best Male Newcomer Award’ and ‘Popularity Award’ at The 4th Musical Awards for his explosive vocal skills and detailed delivery of emotions.

40 of the best musical actors will perform at the concert including Seo Bum Seok, Min Young Gi, Shin Young Suk, Bae Hae Sun and Jung Seon Ah. Kim Junsu is planning on performing in ‘Elizabeth’ with Park Eun Tae and Jeon Dong Seok.

Tickets will be on sale from September 1st for four days and will be available at Interpark and Yes24.
